Transforming a Shed: A Vision for Hybrid Living

Nestled on the border of White Center and Burien stands a modest shed, tucked away in a backyard that dreams of greater purpose.

Following the purchase and renovation of our current residence—a split-level duplex we intend to rent out once the updates are complete—my wife Paloma and I envisioned transforming this humble shed into a versatile office space. The shift to hybrid work in the post-COVID era necessitates more expansive, adaptable environments. This inspired us to reimagine the shed as a multifunctional retreat: a remote workspace, a haven for hobbies like sewing and woodworking, a tranquil spot for reflection and writing, and a cozy loft for visiting guests. Above all, we sought to create a serene space for Paloma and me to enjoy.
